Which Laptop to buy?

I am writing a post after really a very long duration. Will write details about last 3 months in a separate post. This post is regarding an imp decision i am taking of buying a laptop for B school :)

I have shortlisted following 3 laptops

1) Dell M1330 laptop - 13.3' screen
2) Sony Vaio CR series - 14.1' screen
3) HP 14.1' screen

Well the prices are in order with Dell XPS being the costliest.

Hoping to see opinions of people here on the 3 laptops.

Also i am confused on which windows i should buy:
1) Windows home edition
2) Windows Business
3) Windows Ultimate edition

I am really not a MAC guy so have to buy Windows laptop.

So give me your opinions people, i have to order my laptop in another 2 days.
Right now i am getting inclined more towards DELL XPS. It is beautiful and is giving me best configuration in around $1250

One more thing: Will 6 cell battery be fine or shall i choose 9 cell one? Only issue with 9 cell is, it will make my laptop heavier and big

I bought Dell XPS 1330 and its really a great laptop.

Sony is kind expensive right? My friend said HP sucks. I'm in the process getting MSI WIND (10 inches)

Sony is costing me around 1300 and Dell XPS is of same price. What so you think about Dell XPS?

Why not Lenovo Thinkpad X61 or maybe the X300 (if you have more money to spend)?

I'm a big fan of ThinkPad X Series :)

For Vista, the Home Premium has games like Solitaire in it, the Business version has no games (if that's important).. the Ultimate version has everything :)

Heard really good reviews about the Dell XPS. Btw, their service is awesome everywhere in the world and this is coming out of experience!

DO NOT GO for the Vista HOME edition if you USE your laptop. The Business edition is good enough but then think about it if you want to play Solitaire.

Ameya: Any particular reasons for not choosing Windows home edition? I was thinking to take that

Bee: Great to see your comment after long...was away for so long from here :)
Anyways, Thinkpad X300 is too costly and others are 12.1". I have a second laptop from office with 12.1" display and i really dont prefer that small display. I need atleast 13.3'

Thinkpad does not have DVD/RW facility. I would go with Dell XPS.

Sony I think u could have issues in managing other gadgets to work with u'r sony.

HP reviews are bad as happybunny said.

I haven't use XPS series in particular. I like dell's service though. I'm using a dell D400 12''. It has been good. I broke it by trying to clean the fan :( I want my WIND (but they don't have the 6 cell battery in US )

Make sure you check with your school b4 you buy. Mine, for instance, requires Vista Pro b/c of the security settings.

I know you must be in quite a confused situation....I too was in a similar situation around 6 months back when I bought my laptop.

Here are some facts you should consider -
1) Sony - is all about style. Ask yourself are you really willing to pay so much extra for just a little more sleekness.
2) Dell XPS - I personally have hated dell laptops even though they are the cheapest. Inspiron looks like a briefcase :)
Though they have come up with XPS which is better.
3) HP - I own an HP dv6500t and I got it for 1200 $. I would say HP gives you the best value for money and style also is good.
HP sells the maximum no. of laptops in the world. They surely know how to make good laptops :).
If you are interested in HP look for some discounts on deals2buy where sometimes HP gives discounts upto 30%. You will surely find a great deal.

Take and all the best for your research.

Hi, my name is Josh, and I'm a recent Stanford GSB graduate. I’d like to offer your readers some helpful information. I recently surveyed my classmates, friends and colleagues, and asked them to discuss their application strategies, as well as advice for entering MBA students, for Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, and Kellogg. I compiled the responses into a FREE 21-page report available at http://www.ExpertCollective.com. Stanford MBA applicants tell me that the information is really helpful in filling-out their essays with detailed and specific information, while the entering first-years appreciate the advice on how to make best use of the 2 years at business school. I’d love to have you review the full version of the report (80+ pages) if you think you’re readers might be interested. Please send me an email at josh@expertcollective if you’d like me to email you a copy to review for your blog.

Best wishes for your success!

Yodog, I agree, Superman has as well numerous weaknesses to handle
the jade giant. I have that crossover mag and the way
it had been handled was terible. DC had control more
than the storyline, so Superman won. We all know as soon as the Hulk was hit with Supe's heat vision and he didn't blink
it had been more than for Kal El, hell he even mentioned "it took all I had to consider him down."
In an extended battle Superman has no shot.

I am just asking yourself if guys like women a lot more or what.
Once you appear at advertisements on gumtree or craigslist for
ladies in search of guys, they have like one thousand
hits. Males in search of females get like 30 hits,
and almost certainly mostly from men. Also on lifecasting websites like justin.
television girl's rooms are constantly so much much more crammed than guy's rooms.
Why is the world wide web full of attractive fellas but no
women?
